Fiercely independent, he had a long career as an upholsterer before his declining health forced him to retire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His nickname, &#8220;Tempest Storm,&#8221; was a metaphor for both his love of burlesque and his fiery Latin temperament. Meeting the real &#8220;Tempest&#8221; was one of the high points of his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of 15 children, Rick is survived by his &#8220;sister-niece,&#8221; Chris; his sisters, Sherry, Peg, Rita, Cecelia, Mary, Marge, Grace and Delores; his brothers, Bictor, Paul and Robert; close friends, Sam, Jim and Dick; former lover, Bruce; and by a host of others whose Sunday afternoons just won&#8217;t be the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A memorial potluck in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 19, at the SF Club for the Deaf, 530 Valencia (between 15th and 17th) at 1 p.m. Please join us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: Bay Area Reporter via Darol Nance |  Submitted by Meredith Peruzzi | Transcribed by Nanette Edwards<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Feb. 3, 1939 &#8211; Oct. 13, 1994 Rick Cuevas died recently from AIDS complications and is probably shrieking from the other side now that his true age has been published.
