Edwin Eargle Chavis
Funeral services for Edwin Eargle Chavis, 52, were held on September 23, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Columbia, Boyce Chapel, with interment in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dennis Banks officiated and Minister of Special Ministries, and Barbara Porter, interpreted the service.
Mr. Chavis was born January 23, 1956, in Columbia and passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Edward C. and Rheba Eargle Chavis. Edwin graduated from Spartanburg School for the Deaf and Blind and he retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Chavis dearly loved his friends and the deaf ministry of First Baptist Church of Columbia.
Mr. Chavis is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Huffstetler (Bill) of Chapin and Mrs. Renee Foster (Jim) of Batesburg; nieces and nephews, Gerald Risinger, Carolyn Boltin-Kelly, Stephen Risinger, Mica Wilson, Ashley Snoddy, Scott and Clayton Wilson and Carly Boltin. He was predeceased by his sister, LaVonne Herring.
